      What is IPTV?

      IPTV stands for Internet Protocol Television. Instead of arriving via traditional satellite, antenna, or cable, your favourite live television channels and specialty programming are delivered directly to your home through your Storm internet connection. It also includes a built-in cloud PVR so you never miss a show!

      Do I need a Storm Internet connection to get IPTV?

      Yes. Storm IPTV is an exclusive add-on for Storm Internet customers. For a smooth, buffer-free experience, a minimum download speed of 15 Mbps is required to reliably run a single Set Top Box (STB) or compatible third-party device. We recommend speeds of 25 Mbps or higher if you plan to use more than one device at a time.

      What devices can I use with Storm’s IPTV service?

      You can use a Set Top Box (STB) which you can purchase from Storm. The service is also compatible with Google TV, Android Smart Phones, and older generation Amazon Fire Stick devices. It is not currently available on Apple Devices, Roku, or newer generation Fire Sticks, but support for these devices is expected soon. Please note that the service will only work when the device is connected to the Storm Network/WiFi.

      I have a Smart TV. Do I need to buy a Set Top Box (STB)?

      Not necessarily. You can use a compatible third-party device (like an Amazon Fire Stick) or the built-in operating system of a Google/Amazon Smart TV. However, please note that while Storm’s technical support team fully supports our provided STB, support for third-party hardware is provided on a “best-effort” basis.

      What is an STB, and how much does it cost?

      A Set Top Box (STB) is a dedicated device that connects to your TV via an HDMI cable and to your internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet. We offer two pricing options:

      ● Purchase: $129.95 + HST

      ● Rent-to-Own: $14.95 + HST/month for 10 months

      Does the STB come with a remote?

      Yes. It includes a user-friendly, Bluetooth-enabled remote that allows you to pause and resume live TV with the click of a button.

      Am I required to sign a one-year contract if I get an STB?

      No, there is no one-year contract. If you choose the Rent-to-Own option, the fee will automatically be removed from your account after 10 months. If you cancel your IPTV service before the 10-month term is complete, you will simply be invoiced for the remaining balance of the equipment’s purchase price.

      What TV packages are available, and what is the pricing?

      Storm offers three primary packages, along with standalone and other channel bundle options to suit your needs. Standard package pricing is as follows (HST applies to all prices):

      ● Skinny: $25.00 | 47 HD Channels | Add-ons Available

      ● Loaded: $55.00 | 89 HD Channels | Add-ons Available

      ● Fully-Loaded: $67.50 | 108 HD Channels | Add-ons Available

      What do I need to connect a third-party device?

      You will need an activation code provided by Storm, as well as an active account for the app store associated with your device (e.g., an Amazon or Google account) to download the necessary software.

      How many devices can I connect to my account?

      You can connect up to 6 devices (STBs or third-party hardware) to a single account. Please keep in mind that running multiple devices simultaneously requires higher internet speeds. We recommend speeds of 25 Mbps or higher if you plan to use more than one device at a time.

      Can I watch IPTV anywhere in my home?

      Yes. As long as your STB or compatible device is connected to your TV via HDMI and is on your home’s Wi-Fi or wired network, you can stream from any room.

      Can I record my shows? Are there limits?

      Yes! You can record multiple live programs simultaneously, or schedule one-time and recurring recordings for your favourite shows. Your cloud PVR can store up to 50 hours of programming.

      Is closed captioning available?

      Yes, closed captioning is available on all channels.

      Does the stream ever buffer or freeze?

      The service is designed to stream smoothly without buffering or freezing. Any interruptions are typically caused by an internet connection that is stretched too thin. This can happen if multiple devices in the home are heavily using the internet simultaneously, and the internet package isn’t fast enough to support the household’s overall usage.

      What can I do if I experience buffering/freezing

      If you experience this issue and suspect you may be maxing out your internet bandwidth, try disconnecting other devices one by one to see if smooth playback resumes. Keep in mind that even idle devices can consume background data for updates and backups. You can also try rebooting your router and clearing the cache of the IPTV app. Should you need assistance with any of these steps, our Support Team is always ready to help.

      The EPG (Electronic Program Guide) is blank. How do I fix it?

      Go to your app settings and select “Refresh EPG”. If the issue persists, ensure your device’s date and time are set to “Automatic.”

      Can I take the service with me on my mobile devices?

      No. Storm IPTV is locked to your home network and will only work on devices connected to your Storm Internet connection.
